My crap
4th-Dec-2005 11:17 pm

take 2 on a bowl. started with flate plate of blue, and based upon comments from the gallery (yes you epinoid ;) , i placed cane upon the top of the glass. i know i should have fused the wole lot 1st, however being the sui that i am, i am rushing processes - this bloody takes 8 + hrs to simply get the below result!

a rough and nasty piece, it isn't fused nicely, it slumped to one side, but, is display more 'bowl like qualities' than the previous attempts :)

i didn't take it as high as the last pieces, which is kinda interesting to see how molded it is at the base. there's also a lip, where the glass stuck to the top of the stainless steel bowl. it came loose very eaily however, but a respray of the mold will ensure.

looking forward to you comments on this i understand this is crap. but i happy as i regard this as proof i need to fix my kiln, so it's worth my while fixing the kiln. :)

I liked the first pieces better. *sheepish blush* I haven't done much fusing yet, so was more commenting based on stuff I have read or watched other folks do. Every time I have seen a fused piece that looked really nifty they used at least two fusings if not more. I think you are seeing how much easier it is to place things in the flat but then there is a tradeoff losing the more fluidy effects. Most important thing is have fun (and use enough of kiln wash).

I keep meaning to ask - what is the origin of sui?

i also liked the other pieces better ;)

this was purely scrap glass melted to see what happened. result - it melted, but not fully ;)

'sui' is just a nickname i ended up with after my teenage years. *shrug*
