26th-Mar-2005 08:05 am
my entry into the laurels prize tourney.

in the above foto, left to right: the woven skep, honey, mead, candles and lantern, wax, straining equipment, smoker, beesuit. all on the trestle i made.

I am sitting on a hivebox with 2 frames of honey and brood comb inside.i was sitting in the sun, hence sitting round in my underwear.

the whole shebang from another angle, showing the inside of the skep and a box of books:

the groovy beesuit - as shown to Daffyd

Wow - thanks for sharing. I love your idea of hobby of the month and am enjoying going through some of your projects. Wish I had the time to do everything that has been running about in my head - I guess once I get some room freed up in the house away from the my kitty overseers I can get back to making some more things.

(who are u? and how did u find me ?)
31st-Mar-2005 04:42 am (UTC)
Actually you found me - I think it was because I listed glass craft as an interest. I have only done stained but as soon as my garage has some space I want to do a bit of fusing and pate de verre. (I have been bad an accumulated lots of raw materials just not the space to work with them.)

I like the old-time bee suit. :) I'd wondered what they used to do to protect their faces.

Random question: a beekeeper friend of mine gave me a pile of wax bits. Do you have any suggestions for cleaning and melting? I've been looking around on the internet, but not seeing any explicit suggestions for de-honeying and removing random debrits.
